I wanted nothing more than to enjoy "The Shallows" but it underwhelmed to say the least. Blake Lively is put front and center and although she commits to the performance, she isn't given much to work with. With a short running time of 85 minutes, Lively is stuck on a small rock island for the majority of the movie. What is supposed to be a short and intense thriller, ends up dragging to an underwhelming resolution.

This movie has amazing standalone scenes such as the Batman fight in the warehouse but the editing is atrocious. This movie is one part a Batman standalone, one part a Man of Steel sequel and one part a Justice League prequel. Together as a single movie it does not work but as an introduction to Batman and Wonder Woman it's perfect.
