is it anti-capitalist? yes, obviously, it's a bong joon ho film, but that accounts for maybe 5% of this film's ideology, tops. if parasite is a high power laser beam directed at the bourgeoisie, mickey 17 is a shotgun blast in the general vicinity of the american right wing and white supremacist society, and even that seems too precise.

i truly don't understand the love for this one. a doctor who episode doesn't have to totally make sense, but it has to make emotional sense. this special went for so many big swings and completely missed me (almost) every time.

I'm missing quite a lot of the cultural context for this one (i thought all of the music was original) and i still haven't got around to watching citizen kane, so i fear this might be like the time i played black ops before seeing fight club.
still, regardless of how original vs remixed the film is, it deserves full credit for getting ewan mcgregor to whip it out and keep it out, in full view, for a surprisingly long time. I wasn't even particularly interested in seeing it, but i have to respect that kind of commitment to gender equality.
