this lacks all the artistry, delicacy, and nuance that its 1992 counterpart had in abundance. what made the original movie so provoking was the exploration of fear-mongering and the element of truth in an urban legend + the harmful stereotypes thrust upon black people which are taken as truth en bloc. this uses bits and pieces of these points and reduces (or expands???) them into an overtly literal, disorganized attempt at examining gentrification and the intergenerational trauma of racism. the problem…
