The consequences of the pursuit of dreams are often overlooked. I thoroughly enjoyed the depth of detail this film went into exploring its themes. I was worried about how it would affect the story when it decided to transition midway, but it only made the experience tasteful. I would’ve loved to explore a little more backstory, but that’s okay. This film is short but memorable.

I went in with zero expectations after being consistently disappointed with this franchise. I am glad to say I finished this film impressed. This is a solid origin story. Despite the predictable direction, there was a lot to enjoy visually. There is a consideration for fans from other Transformers generations while also serving as a concrete entree for those new to the franchise.

I was so livid about these characters calling a Land Rover a “Jeep” in the first half of the film that I was completely caught off guard when things decided to escalate fast. It's easily one of the most unexpected zero-to-a-hundred films I have ever seen. It’s a big sludge of ideas that is forcibly spoon-fed to you “airplane style” and does not taste well together in one sitting. I need to wipe my eyes and rinse my mouth out after this one.

Idea for a first date: picnic at the salvage yard.

    I think yes.
