The people have forgotten heroes.
Mad Max portrays a post apocalyptic world undergoing change. It's not the world you picture when you think of Mad Max, and probably not the world you'd picture at all when post-apocalypse springs to mind. On a technical level, its a good looking movie. The plot works. It has a solid core throughline.
It's just... Sterile.
Every bit of worldbuilding here is thanks to the prior film, and it doesn't do much to go beyond that. The world looks dull when compared to the pulpy, neon-littered city of the first. The purpose of that world was presenting a lived in, dense future of man. Whilst 2049's world looks impressive, it's a trick of the camera.…
