right at the start of the movie this guy sat right next to me brother we are in an empty theatre. he was a mouth breather too so I moved to an empty row and subsequently cried when michelle yeoh appeared because I wasn’t expecting asians in the movie 😭😭 shoutout to the director though he’s asian 🙌

sean wang is suchhh a goood director this got everything down right like family dynamics (with the overbearing grandma but the dad abroad to work) and the fun and awkward parts of middle school AND the grandma being his actual grandma is so sweet (and reminds me of how it’s Maya’s real mom in PEN15).
