  This movie shows the whole picture of addiction: the highs, lows, the regret, the longing to use/the fight to stay away, and the damage that it causes to the people around you/him. I think it does a fair job adding some humanity and empathy to help people understand what those with drug addictions are going through and why those around them go through as well.
