The Adventures of Ford Fairlane 1990
If there were man caves in the early 90s, this would’ve been top o’ the queue in ‘em. The Diceman cameth and thudded. Sure, it’s terrible, but this bad taste extravaganza is a fun period dive, with a few genuine laughs. Diverse cast. Wayne Newton’s finest hour, fer sure.

Pacific Vibrations 1970
It’s like you’re addicted to that ocean…
Appropriately loose and free form, just like its subject (and interviewees). Great footage and groovy music, well utilized. By turns exhilarating and meditative. Some commentary on “progress” but never preachy. Fashioned like a dream you can’t quite shake, yet half remembered.
I’ll have one of those carrot smoothies too, brah.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 2019
Oddly restless and rushed from the opening seconds. The episodic structure this time was mostly unimpressive. Unsatisfactory character arcs and resolution. Often ridiculous. Some good battle scenes.
Y’all owe Mr. Johnson an apology. I hope he’s laughing at you, right now.

Some of the reviews I've read, from otherwise very insightful and intelligent critics, call 2049 "dull", "plodding", "confusing". Really inconceivable, to me. Again, it's history repeating itself. Folks don't want to think, to work for answers. To see connections. To consider what is beyond the visuals, which again are simply astounding. They may well outdo the original film.…
