In a world of ever more sterile and weightless CG spectacles, the sheer tactile experience of real actors being spinkicked into real piles of tires and cardboard boxes is the finest of cinematic treats.
Desperately needs a new reissue on blu-ray - the Vinegar Syndrome BD is beautiful but OOP and it's missing most of the orange filters the VHS/DVD versions used toturn Toronto into a radioactive 'surface world'
So much pipecore aesthetic going on in this movie. When you need to make shit futuristic and you've got no budget, just slap some more sheet metal and pipes all over the walls!

Certified canuck-schlock classic. Rifftrax doesn't have shit on the joys of discord call commentating this film.
The best kind of silly DTV action flick to have a laugh over with friends - always dumb, never boring, and in fact super enjoyable with great low budget martial arts action. The low rent CGI VR world and compositing is both hilarious and has a ton of charm and soul.
Content warning: You will not be ready for the glory that is the FELT SAMURAI. Your gut may be busted irreperably!

Amazing underappreciated detail here that the racist logging executive clearcutting on indigenous land is the owner of a baseball team with a culturally appropriating 'indians' theme - you can see the team logo on his jacket, when it's not wrapped in duct tape. Puts into perspective just how deep an insult it must be to have your land stolen and exploited and then your culture misappropriated for tacky fucking sports team theming/merch
