Ingmar Bergmans Cinema #6.1
Not one of Bergmans special films in any way but another solid entry. Even his ‘underwhelming’ films are still good and watchable. He set the standards high for himself. Harriet Andersson always a great watch.
An absolute pleasure to revisit this. My first time watching it in 4K and it looked amazing. Some of the best camera work on film and is paced to perfection, Hitchcock really immerses you into the voyeurism James Stewart is committing. This remains a favourite and the fact this is my 3rd favourite Alfred Hitchcock movie speaks levels as to how highly I rate him and the incredible filmography he has.
Edit: I’ve sinced moved it back to 2nd, point…
Akira Kurosawa’s first film shot in colour I believe and you can tell he had fun with it. Maybe too much fun, sometimes the colours of the sky were unnatural but it looked absolutely amazing so that’s completely fine. Another huge samurai epic that puts a lot of Hollywood blockbusters to shame. Another great film from Kurosawa.
