A return to form for the Alien franchise! Full of terrifying imagery, creepy atmosphere, cool action pieces, and earnest performances from the cast. I really liked how the film connected with the other movies without making the story reliant on them 👽

    Trap

    ★★½

I go into any M. Night Shyamalan film wondering if it will be the next The Sixth Sense or the next The Happening.

Trap leans more towards the latter. Conceptually, I found it fascinating and was hoping for the direction to really take advantage of its premise. Unfortunately, the second half of the film becomes clunky with strange pacing and bad acting. Great to see Josh Harnett play an unhinged, deadly protagonist though!

If you prefer your MCU with a dramatic overtone, this movie might be the one for you. The worldbuilding was there, yet it felt like an intimate story about loss, revenge, and grief. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

    ★★½

For a movie filled with great actors, a few cool action pieces (I'm looking at you, parachute guys), and a visual style that mimics Mad Max: Fury Road, it was somewhat boring and drawn out. Not too much character development or interesting scenes. Still, Anya Taylor-Joy's performance was, ahem, a joy to watch!

My best comparison to this would be like watching a mid Marvel movie that has decent action with hints of potential greatness, but ultimately feels bland and forgettable.
