Spring Breakers was the breakthrough film for A24 and it’s not hard to see why it made waves. When this thing came out, people were PISSED… but man they were talking about it.
Spring Breakers is total gutter poetry and probably the prime example that Harmony Korine is more talented than just the trashy gimmick flicks he likes to make.
I can’t believe this was a stealth remake of Bicycle Thieves (1948) this entire time.
But seriously though, this stands as a remarkable film that completely defies its era and becomes a true meeting of the minds between Paul Reubens, Tim Burton, and Danny Elfman, who are all eager to cut their teeth and shoot for the moon with a truly one of a kind production.
