Very glad this movie exists in spite of its shortcomings, certainly worth the watch.

Before Cronenberg could make a movie about a man who loved cars, he had to make a movie about a man who hated cars.
I watched the movie for the first time as AI has taken over pop culture and tech freaks are in control of our politics in pursuit of a radical technofascist transformation of society, so I could not help but immediately see this as an anti-transhumanist parable. Jeff Goldblum as Seth Brundle could as easily be describing hallucinations…
