The Italian Job 2003
Watching this movie at my aunt's place brought about a lot of nostalgic feelings. It was playing on TV so we just left it on, exactly how we'd decide what to watch back in the day. By no means did this movie blow me away, but it was a very enjoyable heist film to watch on a lazy sunday evening, accompanied by cheesy dorito popcorn and homemade banana pudding, of course. The Substance 2024
Absolutely incredible film. Fat, trimmed till there was nothing but raw sinewy meat. Story, succinct and grabbing. Drama and world building expertly crafted into each composition and, though sparse, each bit of dialogue. Need to watch a few more times with a much more critical eye, but goddamn this felt amazing to watch and immerse myself in. Felt almost like Kubrick meets DePalma meets Carpenter meets Demi Moore in fucked up lil Hollywood jaunt.
