Have you ever dreamed of what might happen if you decided to interact with that person you locked eyes with when walking down the street? Maybe you've imagined a scenario in which you ask the classmate you like out for a drink? Or perhaps you've envisaged a life together with the stranger sitting opposite you on the train? Before Sunrise is the fantasy that plays out in our heads. The ideal romance where everything clicks into place. One night of…

Two hopelessly lost souls collide on a crumbling bridge, both trapped in a deadly cycle that dominates those in its clutches. Addiction, disease, poverty, famine - all part of a daily struggle that plagues their existence. For Alex, wrapping his lips around that oh so sweet glass canister is the highlight of the day. The concoction within surging through his veins, offering a way to forget but not a way out. Michèle has lost everything, new to this way of…

Made the snapshot decision to catch this at the cinema and had a blast. This managed to be both hilarious and devastating at the same time, but it’s all tied together by its admirable themes about selfless love and making the most of every second you can. Life’s too short to be cynical and hold grudges. Be kind to those around you and make sure you go watch this movie because tomorrow may never come.

3rd time watching and still finding new subtleties in the filmmaking to swoon over. Once again blown away by just how amazing everyone’s performances are here. First time watching the black + white version; it gives off a darker tone and the horror elements are a bit more prevalent but it then lacks the juxtaposition of the green grass in the sun at the Park’s mansion and the semi-basement’s grimy, light-deprived interior. I also missed the sudden burst of crimson blood and its shock factor. Still, colour or not, this will never fail to impress.

    Sigh here we go again...

As many of you reading this will already know, I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind at the end of last year and did not like it at all. If you didn't know this, I’m sorry. This rating will have most likely left you feeling a little bit upset, maybe even angry. I understand. Grab a drink, take a seat and read on at your own risk. Just know that I really tried to…

Tonight, after leaving the cinema, I walked through the night-time streets of Birmingham city centre and felt an overwhelming sense of clarity. I slowed my walking pace, letting the wind blow the rain against my face, feeling the cold splash of each droplet as it hit me. I felt the weight of my feet pressing against the ground with each step. I gazed up at the sky and took a deep breath of cool air. What I felt in that…
