    The film was 'atmospheric' and 'gothic horror' for maybe the first 45 minutes at most. At some point while Hoult was poking around Castle Orlok, I realized the only apprehension I was feeling was from the movie being uncomfortably loud. After that, everything just seemed silly. Everyone felt like they were acting for a different tone of film.

    At least it was fun.

    Arguably the best movie about leveraged buyouts there is, which is not saying very much.

    If you never, ever see yourself reading a book about business, the film adaptation of Barbarians at the Gate is a fine way to learn the genuinely quite interesting story of RJR Nabisco's buyout, it's an unparalleled case study in 80s corporate greed. For everyone else, though, just read the book.

    I think my biggest issue is that parts of the story that get cut…

    I have no idea what, if anything, Delany was trying to convey with this piece, but it does have the most frighteningly accurate depiction of what happens if you leave theater majors up to their own devices for too long: hastily choreographed performance art, guttural sounds, and finally everyone taking their clothes off and writhing around on the floor.
