Finally watched this, and wow. It lives up to its reputation.
Absolutely amazing how its commentary on parasocial relationships and patriarchy in the internet age still feel laser sharp even now. And its most inventive scenes, which have since been recreated and quoted in so many other films and anime, still feel so incredibly fresh and beautiful.
It’s so nice to see a movie this focused, which nails the tonal shifts in a way that feels incredibly real. In the best moments I was moved from tears to laughter within moments.
