My biggest disappointment of 2025 so far.
Tonally it reminded me of Don’t Look Up (derogatory). Visually it reminded me of Doctor Who (even more derogatory), particularly given the CBBC grade supporting cast which included that English boy who looks like Kathy Burke. This film should not have been made in the UK. It really lowered the tone.

Beautiful cinematography; cowardly ambiguous politics; two sad handjob scenes (because one sad handjob is never enough).
Guy Pearce is great. The line from the marble merchant about coming down from the mountain to beat Mussolini’s corpse was excellent.

Weeks later the aspect of this film which has stayed with me most has been the assistant’s chilling incorporation of DEI language in to good old-fashioned career self-advancement. That and the milk scene.
