    The Wailing

    ★★★★

THE WAILING is a long walk through a dark and bloody forest. In typical k-horror fashion, this movie does not fuck around. There’s a unique comedic touch that does an excellent job of offsetting the horrors. It is breathtakingly shot. This movie illustrates why you shouldn’t run in the woods.

DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING is, IMO, Fulci’s best work. While it’s vastly different than the films he’s most remembered for, it’s also his most complete movie. It feels more like Bava, while still being definitively Lucio. Sometimes you need a good old fashioned mystery covered in bright red blood.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL is shot on film! It’s perfect for a 1980s Satanist movie. The score and soundtrack are perfect. I love films filled with uncomfortable dread. This was a fantastic film. Hail Satan.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch

    ★★★★½

If Halloween III were given any other name, it would be considered a fine horror film. If you compare to other movies like Chopping Mall, it’s a great cult classic. Trying to wedge this picture into the Michael/Laurie story pissed off a lot fans, and rightfully so. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s a fun horror movie and a great watch as a stand-alone feature.
