I liked this movie, but I think what bothers me about it is the casting. Unfortunately, I cannot believe that Jude Law could ever be commanding and dominating over Julie Roberts, I just don’t think this works. Even from their initial encounter I wasn’t convinced. I felt myself thinking this every scene they were in together. It was almost laughable at some points.

I love what this movie has to say about America, and its view of immigrants. I love what this movie has to say about trauma, dreams, and an artists relationships with their patrons. I think it’s hard not to love this movie because of the amazing production that went into the making of it. I think it is a capital G great movie, and I particularly loved Adrien Brody and Guy Pearce’s performances.
I really enjoy what Richard Linklater did in this movie. When watching this I was thinking about my dad’s college stories and how his group of friends were also doing similar things. I think he gave such a clear picture into that first week of college and being away from home for the first time. I like how throughout the movie you get reminded that these guys are still kids, and when adult problems arise they push them off. I love the costumes in this movie, and will definitely be watching again.
This movie was pretty silly, but Dakota and Sydney still looked slay so two stars. Shoshana from Girls was also in it??
