I can't simply compare this with the original and its score, because I haven't seen that, but now I know I need to, so this review should be taken mainly as an assessment of my specific experience with this version.

Ultimately Radiohead goes great with a lot of scenes in this. Its spooky brooding music, and there's a lot of points that it intensifies the dread or urgency as well. What I felt took from the experience was mainly it not matching up with transitions as well, and most importantly the fucking awful glowing lights that were added in post. Fuck that shit.

I think too many people are mad at this for not explaining its political worldbuilding too hard. I think that misses the point, and ends up a tad Dunning-Krueger-esque on the part of anyone levying these criticisms: war makes strange bedfellows, American's and their specific regions have a lot in common despite their differences and those demographic shifts are always in flux. Ultimately its meant to be a surrealist fever dream by design, focused more on the sacrifices and experiences…

Because history exalts only the pornography of force-that of murderers and psychopaths (the rest of us, of course, stricken from the narrative wholesale: a back drop to the tale)-as we, the two-bits, are ushered on and swiftly off this stage with the jawbones of asses. No stirring curtain call for the masses. No floral bouquet. No breaking of legs. No recurring role. No artistic control. And so in these days, in this terminal phase, it’s all left to chance. A piece of advice: if you’re cast on thin ice, you may as well dance.

The main theme still gets me to tear up.

You ever watch something so beautiful but are a small child who doesnt fully comprehend its themes, but on every subsequent rewatch grasp more and more how its themes are confirmed by your lived experience, and its beauty in every thing real? Thats me and this.
