i wish this wasn't so weird (seriously, what?) because it's truly delightful! Also, i thought it was going to be way weirder/creepy but it really is cute and charming and somehow works even though it... shouldn't.

A Face in the Crowd 1957
Instantly a new fav and one of the best movies i've seen this year. Will probably end up rewatching this soon, that's how great it is! Teetering between a 4.5 and a 5 but aspects of the ending felt flawed to me (but i'm still thinking on it).
Marcia is such a tragic character who i love dearly, and Patricia Neal's performance really grounds this film for me

I suppose there isn't any hard and fast rule that says if you name your movie after a character, that character should be explored in depth but... i feel a bit cheated here that we know so little about Anora. The movie relies on Mikey Madison's (great) performance to tie everything together, and it really left me wanting more complexity and an emotional core.
