Just shy of successful. It's a shame because Timothée Chalamet did a great job capturing Dylan's mercurial elusiveness. The folk revival of the 60s is such an interesting time in history, in ways the movie doesn't fully interrogate or explore (For instance: it's only hinted at how a radical art form, shaped in part by its primary contributors' involvement with the American Communism movement of the 20s and 30s, morphed into a commodified product of baby boomer nostalgia.
