this low key reminded me of My Neighbor Totoro during the first half of the film and Princess Mononoke in the second half, as it runs some similar themes: a tale about a child and their nonhuman pal, and anti-capitalism.
p.s. I would also like a living super-pig as my best friend.
An ode to minimalism, I was genuinely attached to everything that was going on in this film. Made me realize to go for more walks, and appreciate the subtle things that happens around us. I hope I can become more mindful and content with my life.
Watching Adam Driver was wonderful, I trust him with all my heart. <3
"Beauty isn't everything, it's the only thing." - The movie itself abides by this. That's why there's no substance in this movie. Neon Demon only relies on beauty, neon aesthetics, heavily drilled metaphors, which ultimately makes no sense! I get that the movie is trying to show us the pathetic, harsh modeling world, and how humans can obsess over beauty. But this felt pretty..subpar.
