It looked beautiful and felt very film like and intimate but I thought it was pretty boring. The writing and acting are all good but the premise and what the characters are doing aren’t consistently interesting enough to justify the runtime.

I enjoyed it more than most people but it’s still really forgettable. Honestly they should’ve taken a chunk of the story and themes from falcon and the winter soldier and made this film instead. The themes in that show were way more impactful and had potential to stand on something more revolutionary especially considering the times we’re in now. But I guess mainstream art isn’t concerned with that anymore. Nothing wrong with escapism and entertainment but it’s annoying when this film tries to ride that line of political messaging but doesn’t actually say anything at all

You know those movies that are so bad they’re good? Venom: Let There Be Carnage is not one of those.

Liked it a lot. Aesthetically it felt really warm and intimate, and I love the time period it’s set in. I loved seeing Asian and South Asian American kids on screen. It was so nice seeing a film filled with kids that looked like and talked like the kids I grew up with. I also thought the depiction of childhood lust was really accurate, interesting and handled well. Why’s everyone so mean to the mom tho??? Chris highkey shoulda got his ass beat. Talkin that way to your Asian mom in 08 would NOT fly💀
