    Yowch this was bad. A Plot so thin that the trailer spoilt the whole thing. Eerily similar backdrop to Don’t worry darling or Ex Machina with none of the interesting questions posed. It would add depth to see a shred of Josh’s connection to Iris. We instead choose to fall back on Josh = bad, Iris = good, for simplicity’s sake. Speaking of, Iris played by Sophie Thatcher was the only good thing about this. That, and the 5 minute scene with the cop where the writers got clever with the humour briefly.

    I was pleasantly surprised to watch a horror with a strong narrative, I was really drawn in as the mystery was uncovered.

    Having not watched the film that this is the prequel for, I’m hesitant to criticise the plot, BUT if the church happened to be keeping the devil behind a curtain, why would they need to birth the antichrist? Surely the devil is enough to convince non-believers.

    This film did so much so well! It felt incredibly tense throughout, a looming feel of dread underneath the normality. The monochromatic thermal footage was immensely effective,  and same goes for the blank red screen and throbbing bass drones. It felt like sheer horror elements leaking through a backdrop of tranquil aryan life.
