Doesn’t feel like a near-50 year old film, considering its message. Nothing’s changed in all that time, depressingly.

Watched when I was probably about 15, remember thinking ‘Classic Aronofsky’ despite having only seen one other film by him at the time.
From memory it’s a good film, particularly for a directorial debut, being slightly unsettling to keep you watching but not overly artsy in its presentation, owing to its creator and presumably its limited budget.
Will have to re-review if/when a rewatch comes about.
