    "In a Violent Nature," "Nickel Boys," and now "Presence" are films whose narratives unfold through the perspective of agents who drive change in the face of trauma. I believe this POV closely resembles that of video games (cinema seems to be converging toward the use of more experimental, yet no less empathetic, filming techniques)

    Distance is the main element in Luca Guadagnino's films. It is from distance that desire is constituted, creating expectations and frustrations. In 'Queer,' distance appears in the very first scene ('you're not queer!') and unfolds as Lee and Eugene grow closer. But it reaches its peak when the two bodies become one: there, the distance equals zero.
