Anora 2024
Given the amount of hype around this I was very ready to be a little disappointed. The concept never really made me think it was going to be special, but it was. For me, easily the best thing about the film is it’s pacing, thanks to Baker’s brilliant editing. It’s always moving at a disorienting pace that doesn’t allow us to figure out when to laugh and when to be shocked into silence, and so when it finally slows down…

Northwood Pie 2019
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I love a good slacker film and this gives you exactly that. For such a low budget film I think it’s executed really well with great performances and writing that kept me invested throughout.

Arctic Heart 2016
What a truly awful clusterfuck of all of the worst parts of french cinema. This film goes from science to penguins to sex for science to death to sacrifice. This film gets to the point where it’s so bad it’s good and then gets so bad that it goes past that point and returns to being so bad it’s bad. One of the worst films ever.
