Maybe the best use of windows and reflections in any film?
I’m truly in awe of the composition of almost every single shot of this film. From the technical camera artistry of some of the office shots to the insane extra coordination in the restaurant shots I’ve never seen anything like this.

All of which is to say nothing of the impressive commentary on living life in the moment, consumerism, etc, which I don’t have the facilities to write about in this moment. The shots of Paris’ landmarks perfectly reflected without ever being seen are indelible.

Outstanding animation yet again. Love the character of the elder. Like an evil Yoda.

Commits the cardinal sin of horror movies which is to be dull. When it comes to horror there is a lot I can excuse: confused plot, shallow characterization, bad acting, etc (all of which this also has in spades by the way). as long as the movie is interesting and as long as I’m not bored. Aside from one truly spectacularly gnarly kill which made multiple people on my audience gasp, this movie is just so inert. If you’re gonna do a style over substance thing, the style has to be good. 85 minutes too long.
