  Alice or the Last Escapade 1977

  Very far from what one expects from „the french Hitchcock“. 
  Slow burn surrealism instead of a classic crime plot. Sylvia „Emmanuelle“ Kristel in a surreal slowburn after she just called quits on her partner. Tension might not be this film‘s focus but hypnotic cinematography lured me in and seeing Kristel in a different light (though there‘s still some nudity) felt fresh and she might not be Meryl Street, but the does a fine job.

  Subtle parody this is not. More like an LSD hammer hitting you over the head. 
  And this permanent feeling of the film itself being on the edge of overdosing might not be as drastic nowadays, as the hyperenergetic mtv editing has found its way to common movies for a while now (plus do dem kids even know 90s music videos?) but still..  it‘s rarely done on this level of quality… and it‘s still testing my endurance.   Nordic Drama-Mystery hybrids really do work so often. The only real problem this film might have that it is „just“ really good, not masterpiece level like Let the right one in reached. 
  Still a film every genrefan with an open mind for a bit of drama should check out. Your heartstrings will thank you

  „Spock, you want to know something? Everbody‘s human!“
  „I find this remark… insulting“

  The final voyage of the (complete) original Star Trek crew and this from the get go feels like the story of a mature crew, one that has been through the wringer. Quite frankly not just the crew feels like they‘ve been through enough. The entire universe this film takes place in has seen enough, seems scarred, hell even the Klingons, at least initially, wanna talk the benefits…
