  Evangelion was already post-Eva within its original run. End of Evangelion was post-post-Eva. Rebuild took us several rabbit-holes deeper. Where was there left to go?

  If anything, Eva was always cool. It dared us at every corner to say something, to laugh if we could. But it always shocked us. It was hostile to its characters, to its fans, and to its creators. We love it anyways.
