Me “Do you want some Turkish delight?”

    My friend “What is this…Narnia?”

I don’t remember if I loved Turkish delight or The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe first. My love for them runs deep though. And thus following the aforementioned conversation I decided I’d give the movie version another go.

The acting isn’t bad, the script isn’t bad, the production values are.. fine. The cinematography is… ok it’s pretty bad, but the movies isn’t bad. It just lacks a…

“There is so much pain and I don’t know how to stop noticing it.”

I am heartbroken it took me this long to watch The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I consume a lot of art. I read, go to museums, listen to music, watch movies, watch TV, look at cool clothes in stores, marvel at buildings, check out classic cars as the pass by, find art in nature and the night sky, smile at the scribblings of the kids…

For once I was pleasantly surprised that the trailer led me to believe this was something different than it is. Love story is a bit thin - but I didn’t really care. I was there for the action and the gore and I got plenty of it. The humor is exactly for me (I was the only one chuckling in the 1/3 full theater). I wish the camera was wider for the fight scenes. Jack Quaid is such a delight and full of charm. Didn’t do one time check the entire 110 minutes.

    Mickey 17

    ★★★★

Mickey 17 starts off strong and keeps it up through the first two acts - it begins to falter and meander a bit in the third. Wish there was more interaction between the two (and previous) Mickeys and exploration of their different personalities because Pattinson absolutely nailed it. His facial expressions, mannerisms and intonation created two distinct characters. The world building here is exceptional as is always the case with Bong Joon-ho. Love he shines a light at the evils…

How do you make a movie about jazz and not have any Black main characters?

Great cast. Ok story. Would it have killed them to throw on some over head lights or carry a flash light or toss on a headlamp? Might have liked this more if I could see what was going on.
