    There were a slew of these scene-chewing, play-adapted films in the nineties, and almost all of them starred Kevin Spacey. Watching Hurlyburly for the first time felt akin to time travel, both because this kind of film isn't made anymore but also because it hinges on a contemporary story that saturates in its particular moment.
