  Kind of like Alien and Memento if they didn’t have a satisfying payoff, and that’s to say nothing of the discrepancies between the films’ direction. Flying Lotus wears his influences on his sleeve here and frankly doesn’t do much with them.

  I was almost taken aback to see that he did the score as I found it to not be memorable at all, a reality made more unfortunate by the obvious parallels to The Thing which broached similar subject matter, was similarly scored by the director, yet is ultimately a product of far greater craftsmanship.

  The post-screening Q&A with Aaron Paul was cool tho!

  If you watch this once you will hate it. If you like very abstract, symbolic films that deal with human psychology (and you are willing to be invested for a couple of viewings) this is a great film.

  Unfortunately the biting commentary I was hoping for on the cold and ruthless detachment of corporate capitalism was replaced with trite Trump impersonations and a fixation on (admittedly cute) alien monsters.
