A quiet wonder. I went into this movie knowing only that it was about two people discussing architecture; I'd heard other things when it had come out, but that was the element that stuck with me. So as I pieced together what was going on with Cassandra's mom, and Jin's relationship with his dad, and with Eleanor, the emotional complexity, and the stakes of their decisions, sometimes hit me like a raw nerve. I knew this would be a good movie, but I didn't expect to connect with it. Wrong, boyo.
