I didnt realize Rowley Jefferson was such a hustler. But shit I would be too if Alana Haim came into my life 🥰
Alana Haim's performance alone gives this movie two stars. One star is for the setting. If you're a Valley kid, you will appreciate Paul Thomas Anderson's cinematography of the SFV during the 70's. The last star is for Cooper Hoffman's performance. The only reason this doesn't go higher than four stars is because of the uncomfortable humor…
A heart-warming Disney Channel Original Movie for the Hanukkah season!
Honestly, it's a 3/5 film at best. But as one of the few Jewish movies I remember watching growing up, it does a respectable job at conveying the story of Hanukkah with a fun basketball movie to go along with it. It has a special place in my heart. Remember to welcome the stranger as we were once strangers in the Land of Egypt! Thanks Rabbi :)
One of the most quotable movies of all time. Shout out to James Rolfe for introducing me to this masterpiece. Below is my favorite quote from the movie 🙌
No one has ever, ever paid admission to see an excuse. No one has ever faced a black screen that says: "Well, if we had these set of circumstances, we would've shot this scene... so please forgive us and use your imagination." I've been to the movies hundreds of times. That's never occurred.
