I have a very emotional relation to this Keith Jarret concert. A school friend of mine loved it, and always played his style at the school piano. And I joined him improvising on each piano I encountered.
Unfortunately this movie doesn't show a single piece of the famous concert, just the background story. But this is impressive enough. So much that I dont believe that much drama. I worked in the opera an the Bühnenmeister might have forgotten the soundcheck, but not the concert for sure.
This doesn't need much commenting. Picture and title says it all. They have great waves in Gaza, better than in Waikiki.
I could say much more though. I'm the ex-president of the only austrian surf club, married to a half palestinian, who left his surf home for political reasons, because it got destroyed. I moved to Houston, where one of the heros, Ibrahim also moved to. I talked a long time to the fantastic producer.
And so this is the first film of the year which made me cry, crying for the fun and comedy, and esp. the grandious Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi who is the best when playing herself. It reminded me a lot on her first film "Il est plus facile pour un chameau …", where also her mother plays her mother.
But behind all the slapstick and gags this is an extremely accurate depiction of the Italian mental institutions and their typical stories. It's…
