  Not up to snuff. I liked the first third but I was kind of over it when Mickey 18 showed up. It’s not that it sucked all stop at that point, it’s more like there was enough things after that point that I just didn’t like. At least enough to push me over the edge. I don’t think Bong Joon-ho does well with English speakers. Some things that might be acceptable or forgivable in a Japanese or Korean movie, like a goofy voice, just doesn’t jive when it’s in English.

  Digimon Adventure tri. Part 2: Determination 2016

  This is a bit better but my same complaints exist. There’s this strange subplot running thru of “we don’t want people to hate Digimon” but the weird thing is that the Digimon are literally destroying parts of the city, including the good guys. They even shoot down a helicopter and I guarantee those people are dead. They don’t focus on the people who just had their lives destroyed, they focus on the gangs internal turmoil over it and it’s honestly…

  Two words: sound design. I think this movie would have been great even without it’s amazing sound design. The clear attention to detail that was given to the film down to the corporate design of the ship interior is perfectly atmospheric. This was a work of love that all knew would be a hit but everyone kept dragging their feet to actually complete it. A clear Matt McMuscles “Wha’ Happun” moment. 

  I want to return to the sound design because…
