  This could have been a lot worse, and I still would have rejoiced in seeing non-franchise scifi in a cinema again.

  Not subtle, but I don't think these times we have should have subtle anymore. Bring it on.

  Well, that was a knife through the heart.

  I had every reason to believe I would love Sydänpeto. It seemed like a visually stunning, technically impeccable movie with an awesome soundtrack and really promising actors.

  I had liked the short film Shake! by the director Aino Suni a couple of years earlier. Also, it seemed like we would be getting a Finnish lgbtqia movie, and maybe even a genderqueer main character.

  In short, it seemed like a movie tailor-made for me.…

  I didn't quite know what to expect, since I only had a vague recollection of the source material, Sofi Oksanen's novel by the same name. I remember the novel being well written and I was completely hooked on it at the time, but the story having some elements that troubled me deeply. I couldn't quite put my finger on why it troubled me at the time. Watching the film it was pretty clear what was wrong.
