  Ravenous is my favorite kind of movie in that it is such a genre mishmash it prompts reviewers to make the most batshit-bananas comparisons to describe it, ex. “The Starship Troopers of cannibal movies” “the The Shining of queer cowboy movies” “the Dueling Banjos of Damon Albarn soundtracks” “The Grizzly Man of movies with the principal from Ferris Bueller”

  “Things that happened when we were kids, that no one knows about but us. It’s in our heads - that’s how we know it really happened!”

  A dervish of male incorrigibility and insecurity. Maybe there’s a nine syllable German word for the feeling you get as you’re watching something come apart only to realize it had really already broken in all the important ways some time ago, but if not Mikey and Nicky manage to convey it with a terrific, riff-laden inefficiency.
