The chase, chaos, color, and location felt very similar to uncut gems. I was absolutely locked in and I’m glad it wasn’t too heavy handed and violent. The transactional nature of sex workers really became clear in this film and really hit towards the end. Anora never really had a male simply be kind to her, that was really powerful to me.

I’m a Robert Eggers stan so Im biased. This was everything I ever wanted in a gothic horror movie. He brought vampires back to the historically accurate depiction we see in folklore. Count Orlok was menacing, dark, and terrifying. His presence was felt through the screen. All performances knocked it out of the park and if the academy was smart they would nominate a horror movie for once. Set design, score, costumes, and actors all were perfect.

Great movie 10/10. Humor was gold, the message was on the nose but I feel like it needs to be for kids/teens and honestly cryptic movie messages are overrated sometimes. Favorite part had to be Barbie and Ken’s different experiences coming to the “real world”. Been following Greta for a while. One of my new favorite directors simply because she will capture nuances in our culture and present them in a relatable, yet thoughtful way.

Where do I start? Definitely triggered, big time. And my father passed very early in my life but what from Id known from his, toxic masculinity and trauma definitely effected him. This movie is brilliant because it explores so many themes that almost everyone can relate to from racism, patriarchy, toxic masculinity, religion, and identity. Denzel and Jovan Adepo put on a masterful performance together that brought me to tears more than a few times. I was in a whirlwind…
