  It's so weird to review this movie. I probably watched for the first time 20 years ago but it holds a bookmark in my mind. So many images and downshifts that are locked in my mind forever. I love the constant back and forth with obvious outcomes. The final chase scenes are really something to be studied, I'd argue some of the best on camera.   The Ritual 2017

  Pretty decent monster in the woods movie, but having read the novel first, the changes in the movie are a bit of a letdown. Luke's character and motivation are quite different and the monster doesn't quite match what I had been expecting from the book. Still it's a decent horror movie and worth the watch.

  I've watched quite a few no-budget movies (many of them Amityville related) this may be the worst one I've seen. The audio levels are so poor I feel like the film maker did all the editing on mute. The plot is incoherent, the jokes are not funny, and the kills are weak. The ending "news coverage" was so cringe worthy and obviously some sort of Kickstarter obligation I stopped watching before the last one. Avoid.

  Halloween III: Season of the Witch 1982

  ★★★★½ Rewatched 31 Oct 2022

  This one gets so much right for a Halloween movie. It has the feeling of the holiday, the fun of dressing up, the excitement of meeting friends and watching horror movies, and of course the evil of old white capitalists. Great music, good effects, and of course Tom Atkins' moustache in full force.
