  The Brutalist 2024

  So much good shit. I cannot believe they made this for 10 million or whatever. It’s massive, expansive, beautiful. That budget for this movie blows my mind.

  I watched the first half and then took days to finish (busy) and during those days I was confident that The Brutalist was the best movie of the year. 

  That 2nd half definitely changed my opinion, it didn’t work as well for me, but overall — really good movie.

  wanted to get this in before the Oscars...just sneak a quick film in y'know? This nonchalant attitude about watching it set me up to get fucking rocked by it.

  A brilliant execution of a great script. Damn.

  Name one thing that didn’t absolutely fucking rule, you literally cannot. Denis does Sci-fi in such a sick way where even the most futuristic shit has this real-life weight to it.

  A singular vision. Should be experienced in theatres (IMAX —  what’s up Hans?) but will still be great when I rewatch it at home. 

  Also I was in Montreal a few weeks ago and asked a bartender who he thought the most famous person from Montreal is right now. He said George St.Pierre, I said Denis Villeneuve — I still think I’m right.

  The Good Nurse 2022

  I feel like this is a nice little pocket for a movie to live in. Super entertaining, not at all challenging just really well executed. The type of thing you could watch with your parents and your dad will stay awake through the whole thing and everyone will have a really nice time.
