    it’s hard to overstate the seminal value of i spit on your grave. yes the dialogue is often unintelligible, yes it suffers from seventies pacing, yes i can understand why someone wouldn’t want to put themselves through that awful brutal thirty minute long rape scene. 

    however. to my knowledge, spit was the first time a woman got to avenge her own rape, (spawning an entire huge horror subgenre) and for my money you just can’t beat this movie for catharsis.…

    still a banger a hundred plus years later. the sets! the makeup! the shadows! much has been said about how crazy seminal this movie is, and for good reason.

    i read all the german aloud, stumblingly and poorly pronounced. but my comprehension is definitely getting better.
