Am I terrible cynic? I found myself having such a hard time being engaged with or moved by this movie. I couldn't get behind the so non-serious sci-fi aspects of the plot, I found myself annoyed at Winslett's manic pixie dream girl performance, scenes moved either much too quickly or dragged on unnecessarily, and many plot devices felt completely arbitrary and so underdeveloped (who is Patrick?? why is everyone going along with the directions handed out on those little paper…
