An incredible foreign film. I saw this for the first time almost 10 years ago and I didn’t quite understand all the subjects that were touched on in this piece. Being a story based off true events, the viewer takes away the rawness of the plot long after the credits roll. Few motion pictures do this well as my worldview was challenged watching this film.

The Fountain 2006
Not my favorite film by this director. Although I can recognize this film’s experimentalism and artistry, I could not develop strong ties to the characters in this film. If the story is about love and how it transcends time, it is hard to feel that when I didn’t care for the characters. Even so, this film explores a unique idea with great artistry, visuals, and music.
