Black Bag 2025
This made for a good time at the cinema. Smart and snappy with the dialogue and the direction. I really appreciated that this was a tight 90 minute flick and not overblown to 2+ hours because it so easily could have been.
I found it a little hard to follow in places but when it’s good, it’s really good! Both the dinner party and the polygraph scenes were excellent.Translated from by -
Pan's Labyrinth 2006
No real complaints about this one, I just think that fantasy maybe isn’t always quite for me. Although I am disappointed because with this being my first time seeing a Guillermo Del Toro film, I thought he might win me over.
I see the appeal though. It looks great and it’s brilliantly crafted, just not my jam I guess.Translated from by

The Substance 2024
Enjoyed it even more the second time. This is my favourite film of the year so far. I’m already really excited to see what Coralie Fargeat can do next. Between this and Revenge, I love that she keeps dialogue to a minimum/ less frequent as possible and mainly just lets the wild visuals run the story telling. All the little Kubrick nods are nice too.
I can’t claim to have seen many of Demi Moore’s films but I’m not surprised to be seeing many labelling this as her career best!Translated from by -
Paris, Texas 1984
I give this film its flowers for how good it is on a technical level, it’s an absolute visual feast. Every frame is gorgeous. But I’m still undecided if I even like Paris Texas.
I have no problem with stories about anti-heroes who make mistakes but ultimately try to do what's right. But this didn’t feel like that at all to me.
