  The best cinematography of the year. Some of the best skies ever filmed. Very Badlands coded. I’m a sucker for big epic “American dream” movies and this is a super unique version of that. Watching László devolve into what he becomes by the endlessly abusive hand of America is fascinating and enthralling at its best, and frustratingly opaque and mismatched at its worst. I definitely feel like this script could’ve been great if it just ironed itself out a bit…

  I bought a 6 pack of crepes before this and the movie was so good I had to carefully plan when I would reach down and pick up a crepe so I wouldn’t have to look away from the screen for more than a second. Therefore mathematically, Anora has 6/8340 seconds that didn’t hold my attention, meaning that this movie is officially 99.999281% good.

  Also I gasped when Mickey O’Hagen showed up. Up the tangerine-verse.
