The Last Showgirl 2024
A film that's a tad frustrating, it's knocking on the door but never quite comes together in a satisfying way. The film looks and sounds sublime though.
The casting is the star of the show, it's fascinating across the board. Pamela Anderson is perfect and Bautista is always wonderful but I think the fact that almost all of the women in the cast are mothers adds such a texture to all of their performances in this film all about mothers and daughters. Tough watch on a turnaround day after a 15 hour night shoot buuut I still found this film pretty remarkable.
The mundanity is mesmerising like nothing I've ever seen and for as frankly quite boring as this can be, it's always very watchable.
